Just like with a desk and chair, there are wrong ways to use a standing desk that can void all of it’s health benefits.

One such mistake that many people make when getting their first standing desk, is expecting your body to suddenly transition from sitting to standing all day. This can cause a lot of muscle pain and make you feel fatigued quickly. Like with most change, you need to slowly build the specific muscle needed to stand comfortably for longer periods of time. To quickly build an ideally balanced routine, instead of just standing and sitting at random intervals, create a schedule based on your breaks or other prompts to keep you moving and adapting your position. Then gradually increase your time spent standing and shorten your sitting breaks.  However, never completely stop taking those sitting breaks; standing without moving is just as terrible for your body as sitting all day.
