A bird feed er may seem to be a simple addition to your backyard, requiring very little forethought. But to place a bird feeder that will create the perfect haven in your yard, and attract the many different birds in your area, you need to consider a few factors strategically.
Firstly, the feeder needs to be somewhere safe for the birds. Mounting them on a post or hanging them will make it hard to reach for dogs and cats. But in order to attract many different birds, you will need to cater for their many different feeding habits. For those that prefer to feed on the ground, feeders can be surrounded by bushes or hedges. Additionally, don’t place feeders too close to windows, unless you’re placing them right on the sill. At short distances, a reflective window could look like an open sky and cause injury if the bird flies into it.
